A Week in Paradise

An opportunity fell in my lap last week that I could not let pass me by. A dear friend has been working in Hawaii for the past month and there was room for me to stay for a week. Hawaii is a long way to travel for a single week, but with free accommodations and a enough frequent flyer miles to make the trip, how could I say no to spending in a week in paradise for a mere five dollars?

I rummaged through my closet in search of summer clothes that I could still button with the extra layer of winter insulation. As I considered the possibility of donning a bathing suit and my white thighs reflecting a blinding glow in the sunlight on the beach, I tried to calm myself by thinking about how good I will look to my new crush upon my return home.

I am packed and ready to go as an ice storm is threatening New York City.

Happily as I am leaving on my adventure with thoughts of my crush on mind, one of my cyberwinks has been responded to in kind. A seemingly charming man has responded with a very funny e-mail. Now I have two men to fantasize about on the beach. I don’t think there could possibly be a better reason to avoid macadamia nuts on my trip.

I have never been to Hawaii. Each day the temperature hovered around 80 and the evenings dipped to 70. The week went by quickly and I was charmed by the scenery; the food; the history; and the people.

A beautiful Hawaiian Elder took my friend and me to ancient historical spiritual places he had helped to restore. He chanted his lineage in his native tongue requesting permission to enter these sacred grounds with us. The sites were more than beautiful and I was deeply honored that he shared these places with us.

On another occasion we were invited to a private home that is well known and documented in magazines and coffee table books for being one of the most beautiful and exotic private gardens in Hawaii. The house and garden had belonged to our hostess’ Grandmother. She opened her home to us as well as the magical garden. It was like the land that time forgot. It was extraordinary.

The drives along the coastline of Oahu revealed different waters at each turn. It is the only place I have ever been where people had no need to explain why they never returned home after a short visit. It made perfect sense. I only saw a very small piece of their paradise but I will go again, hopefully very soon.

Now that I am home I am eager to share my tan with someone. I feel like a new woman and ready to dazzle my new crush with my now thinner and tanned body. I have also begun to make contact with men on the various internet dating sites. If nothing else I will have fun showing up in the dead of winter with a fabulous tan. Today I do not feel like crying. I am still fantasizing about men. Thoughts of their bodies played through my mind as I lay on the beach.

Now I feel ready to face the search on the World Wide Web for Mr. Right or at least Mr. Right Now. I am also prepared to find out if my crush is single….. at least until my tan fades!

Great promotional piece for Hawaii. As a follow-up, I'd like to hear how those tans hold up in the big city.
