Mi-Ling Stone Poole
Mi-Ling Stone Poole writes a weekly decorating column for The Oklahoman in Oklahoma City. She is also a contributing columnist for the McClatchy-Tribune news service. She recently released her new book, "Ask Mi-Ling! When You Want the Truth About Decorating."
Mi-Ling earned the reputation of being funny, entertaining and outspoken during her weekly radio segments, while offering cost-saving advice on decorating. You can see her lifestyles and decorating tips on KWTV News9 (CBS), in Oklahoma City and on various morning shows throughout the country.
Mi-Ling grew up in the Twin Cities with some of the major players in the music industry. Her friendship with pop icon Prince inspired her to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
After graduating from the University of Kansas with a bachelor's degree in journalism, Mi-Ling worked as a freelance writer, advertising and public relations executive, and a radio and television host.
In 1991, she decided to form Exact Image Entertainment Group and focused on booking and promoting celebrity speakers and entertainers. Her first celebrity client was actor Esther Rolle, who was best known for her portrayal of Florida Evans on the hit television show "Good Times."
One of the highlights of her career was working as associate producer on "Ninth Street," an independent film featuring Martin Sheen and Isaac Hayes that later won an Independent Film Channel Award.
After a successful career in the entertainment industry Mi-Ling went back to school and earned her master's degree in communications from Oklahoma City University.
In 2001, she decided to merge her love for journalism with her passion for decorating and began writing two weekly decorating columns: "Ask Mi-Ling" and "Mi-Ling's Comfort Zone." These columns are published weekly in newspapers throughout the country and have been translated and published in Spanish.
Mi-Ling believes that creating a comfortable and livable home is the key to a great design.
