Gus, the one-eyed, three-legged dog that won the title of World's Ugliest Pooch for 2008.
The pedigree Chinese Crested had cancer. He was 9 years old. Gus was rescued by a family in Gulfport, Florida, after they discovered he was being kept in a crate in someone's garage. He had lost an eye in a cat fight, and had one leg amputated due to a skin tumor. His owner had used the Ugliest Pooch prize money for Gus' radiation treatments.
As someone who recently lost a beloved pet, my sympathies are with Gus' family today. There's no doubt they did all they could do for him.
