The email, from a friend, said, "This will either make you feel young....or very old." I took a chance and opened the photo anyway. (Click to enlarge.)
Years ago when my kids were little, Wally and his wife moved into a house two doors down from us, because he was in town doing a dinner playhouse gig. It used to crack me up to see him go down the street in his little VW.
I would say that now we just needed the Beaver to show up. And he did. He came and stayed there for awhile, too. We all got the biggest kick out of saying Wally and the Beav lived down the street.
I always wanted to say something to them, but was afraid I wouldn't be able to keep a straight face, so we would just watch them come and go. They moved out after a few months.
I have a real problem with not wanting to let go of how people looked in the past, particularly if I haven't seen them in years, or decades. If I meet someone I haven't seen since high school or college, I am shocked at how much they've aged. (Imagine what they're thinking about me.) That's why this photo was so stunning...even though they do look very much the same.

You always think of these three frozen in time, don't you? It's hard to see them aging like the rest of us....much less in full color!

Love the picture! They still look the same in a funny sort of way. I wonder if when they're together, do they still talk about the old days?
