Dear Home Alone,
In my opinion, giving needed reminders cannot be considered nagging, especially if you don't charge.

I usually preface my reminders with, "Since you asked me, I think you should..., and don't forget to...".

In extreme cases I begin with, "God knows I would never tell anyone what to do, but...".

After Bob leaves for work, have you had breakfast in bed (double-chocolate chip ice cream) while reading a great murder mystery?

What a wonderful cell story.
And where was that teacher for 20 minutes? Out buying more snacks? I love it.

Dear Home Alone,
I think you are either a very nurturing and creative person or a complete nut. I put my kitchen, all gadgets included, on Craig's List to trade for a garage. Only a few responses so far. The gadgets I treasure are a scissors-like garlic crusher, a cherry pitter, a lemon zester and Dearly Beloved, the dishwasher. Esmarelda

Leah,
You captured the feelings of many mothers when their children leave. I can't believe I said to my daughter when she announced her engagement, "Do you mean you are actually leaving me for some MAN?"

Your column expressed a very sensitive and universal experience!

Isn't it strange how some things don't change. For me it is stranger when things change and I don't. For example, we don't have a dog now but when the dog in a nearby yard barks, I rush to the door to let him in.
